THE ZENITH

The climactic part of the Permanent Exhibition is the gallery called The Zenith, which focuses on the period between 1671 to 1773: the height of the trade. This part of the museum will show fully bedecked carrozas and altars; devotional statuary made of ivory and precious woods; the finest shawls called mantones de Manila (actually produced in China); original examples of the luxury goods; and intricately-rendered tableaux of the departure and arrival scenes in Manila and Acapulco.
